| Description | The College's Center for Applied Human Ecology (CAHE), which has administered grants, implemented projects with local communities, and is a forum for students to make presentations on applied human ecology projects acts as the policy advisory board for the Climate Action Plan. The Center includes several faculty and staff members familiar with climate change issues and who are supportive of reducing the College's carbon footprint. Interested students also attend meetings. CAHE will serve as a sounding-board for implementation strategies for the ACUPCC and as an advisory body to the College president. In addition, the Campus Committee for Sustainability, a student run organization, also reviewed the Climate Action Plan. |
Tangible Actions

1. Establish a policy that all new campus construction will be built to at least the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Silver standard or equivalent. No: The College's new Kathryn W. Yes: In October 2007, President of the College, David F. Hales, issued an email to the COA community directing that ENERGY STAR appliances be purchased when available. This was included with a request to reduce electrical energy use campus-wide to help save money to offset the increased cost associated with our 3-year contract to purchase renewable electrical energy. |
