Description Environmental and social sustainability has been core to BGI since its inception. Administrators, staff and students are committed to "walking our talk" in integrating sustainability into curriculum, operations and practices. In 2006 BGI's management formalized a Climate Initiative and sponsored a student "Action Learning Project" to help assess, reduce, and offset BGI's carbon footprint, becoming a leader in higher education to commit to and achieve carbon neutrality. BGI's President signed the AASHE Climate Commitment, and established a multi-stakeholder Climate Steering Committee.
